About

My name is Josef Rebbe, and Aquasonic originated from my research into the effects of tactile sound vibrations, which I began in 2004 during my studies in Sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. Initially, I attempted to transfer vibrations to the body through the air using large subwoofers, but this proved ineffective. When I first floated in the Dead Sea, the idea came to me to transmit vibrations through water. What started as an ambitious concept has since evolved into a thriving practice that helps people reconnect with themselves.

Gratitude to Everyone Who Made This Possible

Aquasonic is not only the result of my vision, but also of the efforts and dedication of many people who have supported this dream with heart and soul.

The development and refinement of the sound files would not have been possible without the invaluable help of Joeri Bonsel, with whom I also co-created the Somasono Chair and the Equilibrium Lounger.

The practice space was co-designed and built over many hours by Aad Drewes. Michou Reuland supported me during the validation study of Soundfloating. Geneviève Chassé helped produce the crowdfunding video, and Graciela Rossetto captured the beautiful photos featured on this website, with my dear colleagues Liselore Raan and Tom Giles as models.

My dear girlfriend Nadine van der Zalm invested a great deal of time in developing the website and sending out newsletters. Gianne Tillema designed the logo, contributed to the website concept, helped with visualizations, and co-organized the Go-Life workshop together with Koen Timmermans. Koen also assisted with the general terms and the protection of my intellectual property, and was a valuable sparring partner throughout the process. Erik van Lier created a business plan and remains involved in future developments.

Together Michou, Gianne, Koen, Nadine, Joeri and Erik formed the crowdfunding team, through which the development of the floating bath was financed.

Kacper Ziemianin developed the software for the motor that moves the transducer in the water, while Vince Vijsma and Yvo van Os designed the mechanical components. Vince also helped assemble the filtration system.

A very special thanks goes to Camilla van Doorn, whose beautiful voice can be heard during the sessions, and to Eva Brocades Zaalberg, who wrote a wonderful article about Soundfloating.

To all of you: thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for your care, dedication, and patience.
